Choosing a new sign for your business? It’s time to consider the materials that you could use for your new sign. The main ones that we suggest are corflute, foamcore, colorbond, alco panel, forex, acrylic, and SAV. We can look at the benefits and disadvantages of each and ensure you make the right choice before ordering a sign.
The first option is corflute. Corflute signs are economical as they can be bought at affordable prices. They are also easy to store, create, ship and hang. Basically, it’s one of the simplest materials available on the market.
That said, durability can be an issue. While the material is quite strong, it won’t handle all the weather conditions that the outdoors could throw at it. As such, they will either need to be replaced or simply protected.
Foamcore signs are a brilliant temporary sign that you will often see at trade shows, business events, and exhibitions. They are commonly used indoors to promote, sales, deals, and attractions. These signs are incredibly lightweight and therefore very easy to move around. They can be freestanding or fixed onto another surface and generate a brilliant, high-quality display.
However, again, they are not designed to be durable. They keyword to remember here is temporary. While foamcore signs are fun marketing materials, you shouldn’t consider it as a long-term investment. It could easily be damaged by water and wear and tear.
For a sign that will last and withstand the weather outside, you may want to consider a colorbond sign. Colorbond signs are often used as construction signs and building signs. The material is still quite light and it is also weather resistant.
Although colorbond signs can be used as both a permanent and temporary signage option, they are not intended to be moved a lot. As such, they won’t be that beneficial if you are looking for a signage that needs to be moved from place to place.
Alco panel or aluminum composite panels signs are perfect for exterior or decorative use. Strong and sturdy this material is typically used for signs showing that houses are for sale. Alco panels are completely weatherproof and also won’t be damaged in sunlight. These signs are also often designed to be rust resistant.
Typically, the cost is the greatest issue here. These signs are slightly more expensive to match the longevity of their design. They are intended to be more than a temporary solution.
Forex is a solid plastic sheet sign, commonly used around trade shows and exhibitions. Though not really intended for outdoor use, you may find forex signs around business locations. However, the sign is waterproof and produces a high-quality image.
That said, these signs are just a tad too flimsy for outdoor use. Rain wouldn’t be an issue, but high winds certainly could be. The sign could get damaged or bent in weather conditions such as this.
Acrylic signs are perfect for outdoor usage because they can last for literally decades. They are also translucent which makes them perfect for letting light through as well as being strong.
That said, an acrylic sign will let ultraviolet light through. Although, it will not yellow when exposed to high levels of sunlight therefore, it can look fantastic outside a business building for years.
Self Adhesive Vinyl
The key advantage to self-adhesive vinyl is that they are incredibly diverse. A sign or banner made of this can be used on virtually any surface and look absolutely fantastic. This material is particularly useful for large, colorful displays.
However, vinyl can also be expensive, particularly when it is custom made. Furthermore, you may find that the sign is hard to maintain and protect. Particularly when used in an outdoor area over a long period of time.
